Invitation to Celebrating Europe Day

Catching Europe in Istanbul
Event Date: 2013-05-09

The Center for International and European Studies (CIES) is hosting a wide-ranging event to celebrate Europe Day on 9 May 2013. In partnership with the Katadrom Arts, Culture and Social Politics Association, the CIES is arranging a film screening titled “Changing Perspectives” consisting of a short movie showing the experiences of Erasmus students in Turkey. The event includes two panel discussions.

The first panel, held in partnership with the Corporate Social Responsibility Association of Turkey and the International Cooperation and Education Office at Kadir Has University is titled “Is there a common ground on which a European citizenship can be constructed?”. It will involve a discussion with European and Turkish representatives from the media, public office, the private and the non-profit sectors. The use of Google’s Hangouts technology will be used to bring this panel to fruition.

The second panel on “Unity in Diversity: European Identity through the Lens of Erasmus Students” will focus on Erasmus students and their experiences. This panel will be moderated by the Editor in Chief of Le Petit Journal d’Istanbul.

Finally this event will signal the launch of the “Catching Europe in Istanbul” photography exhibit, in partnership with Katadrom and the Erasmus Student Network at Kadir Has University. The best photographs will be awarded a prize by the organizers.

We would be delighted to have you attend the event and participate in its activities.

We look forward to seeing you at Kadir Has University’s Sinema Hall A (D Block – Cibali campus) on 9 May at 13:30hrs for the festivities. The event is expected to end by 17:40hrs.

A detailed event program will be available shortly.
