KATADROM is announcing an English Essay Competition for exchange students! The winning essay will be published in the bilingual magazine Beyoğlu Dergisi.
Head over heels into the wild and colorful life of Istanbul? How did the city change you, where did you start from and where will your journey take you now?
We want your stories about exchange, culture, Istanbul, Turkey and everything in-between. Be free to tell us your point of view. How did you experience your stay in this city?
Anyone who has done or is currently doing a student exchange in Istanbul can participate.
Submission deadline is August 20th, 2012. The winner will be announced at the beginning of September and the essay will be published on the autumn edition of the Beyoğlu Dergisi. The winner will receive two entrance cards for all film shows and social events for the International Crime and Punishment Film Festival being held from September 27th to October 4th in Istanbul.
To apply for the competition, please send an email with a short CV or résumé and reference to the school you studied at in Istanbul to the following email address: marie.hartlieb@katadromart.com. Include your essay as a .pdf file. The essay should be around 1000 words. On the essay, include a password that will be used to identify your essay. In your email, make sure to include the password. Do not write your name on the essay.
The winning essay will be chosen by Tuba Teycan, head writer and creative director of the Beyoğlu dergisi, Antoin Rodgers, English for Academic Purposes instructor at the Istanbul Bilgi University and Yusuf Öz, lecturer at the Yıldız Teknik University at the department of humanities.
